If you absolutely must write things down, I would put everything in a binder or notebook. Here's the important part: Don't put what's in it anywhere on the cover! Leave the outside blank. Then, put it on a bookshelf and tell one person you truly trust where it is. Telling too many people can and will lead to trouble, even if it's family.
