I think you might be a little unfair.

I don't think it's about us not listening, it's that we didn't understand. When we're full of life, it's difficult to imagine ourselves in a place where we would want to die, and I think it's natural we would want to talk her out of it.

Or maybe she didn't know how to articulate it in a way that made sense to us.
